Title: Country Ministry Director in Ethiopia

About Eyob: Eyob has served as the Country Ministry Director in Ethiopia since December 2024. Eyob is a detail-orientated critical thinker. His passion for community development, leadership, and poverty alleviation combined with his vast work experience make him a valued asset to the Possibilities Africa Team.

Eyob oversees strategic leadership, partner engagement, and resource mobilization. He represents Possibilities Africa to the government, the Christian community, and the general public in Ethiopia. He spends most of his time working with rural pastors and communicating with key partners.

Eyob’s heart for mentorship and poverty alleviation developed from firsthand childhood experience. His father left his family when he was three years old, leading him to question the existence of God and struggle with his view of God.

“Eyob” is the Ethiopian (Amharic) translation of the Biblical name Job. In the Bible, Job is known for remaining faithful to God in immense suffering. In Ethiopia and other parts of Africa, the name Eyob carries the same significance, rooted in the Biblical account.

Eyob was raised by a single mother who he testifies was his mentor, inspiration, and encourager. She was his hero until he met Jesus and he became the hero of Eyob’s story. His mother was and is incredibly resilient and strong, but life was difficult being surrounded by poverty and youth who were involved in gangs. Although it would have been easy to continue living on the streets, Eyob knew education was the way out of merely surviving.

Eyob went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Leadership & Management and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He has 14 years of work experience in business and social enterprise. His career started as a general farm manager, overseeing the care of cattle and chickens. As the farm manager, he practiced veterinary medicine and led 400 employees. He later worked for a values-based organization that empowers women in prostitution to exit from that lifestyle. This extensive experience equipped him in asset management and training execution.

Eyob has volunteered as a youth mentor for the past 12 years. He enjoys reading, writing, and discussing theological and physiological ideas in life. Eyob is a published author in the local language. His book addresses the trauma that happens when a child is without a father, emphasizes the importance of fatherhood, and calls young men to be responsible husbands and fathers.

Today, Eyob’s priorities as the Country Ministry Director of Possibilities Africa in Ethiopia include:

1. Developing sustainable systems

2. Creating a strong organizational culture

3. Contextualizing the mission and vision

Eyob seeks to bring hope to people in Ethiopia and enjoys witnessing pastors’ transformation. Listening to testimonies, seeing perspectives shift, and encouraging individuals on their journey is the most rewarding work he has encountered thus far.

Prayer requests:

  • Pray for security and peace in Ethiopia, especially in the northern area.
  • Pray for open doors to reach more pastors and communities in Ethiopia despite blocked networks and roads due to conflict.
  • Pray for resource mobilization, asking God to provide the necessary individuals, counselors, and tools, which are essential for areas that have experienced trauma, wounds, and isolation from the civil war in the last 5 years.
  • Pray for God to set a holy shield of protection around the staff in Ethiopia and for Him to give them wisdom and direction in their next steps.
  • Pray for God to give Eyob courage and strength as he faces high-profile leaders and circles where the Possibilities Africa model is new. Pray for God to open the hearts and minds of people to receive and advocate for the message of Possibilities Africa.
