Staff Profile: Meet Elvis

Elvis’s story begins like that of the shepherd boy David. Upon waking, his days were spent untying cattle, taking them to graze, eating sugar cane for lunch, and returning home in the evening. At age 10, he left the village where he was raised to live in the city with his father. His mother and grandmother decided it would be best for him to live there as he matured. Elvis easily made new friends in the city and realized there was an opportunity for a better life.

Years later, Elvis earned a Bachelor’s of Commerce, finance option. He went on to do bookkeeping at an accounting firm, which equipped him to organize files, create Excel templates, and work with people. Possibilities Africa hired Elvis in January 2019. Today, he serves as the Legal and Compliance Administration Officer, pursues a Master’s in Business Administration, and works toward becoming a CPA. He is responsible for ensuring the organization is properly set up in all countries–registering with authorities, acquiring necessary certificates, and identifying statutory remittances.

He is filled with joy morning by morning, knowing how much the organization’s mission and vision resonate with him. He enjoys collaborating with the Possibilities Africa team members in all countries and will tell you he works with one of the best teams anyone could have. He is especially gifted at negotiating, which has been a wonderful asset for Possibilities Africa.

Because of Elvis, Possibilities Africa staff members can work freely with pastors, knowing their legal bases are covered. He manages taxes, returns, and documentation. He ensures documents are filed well and are easy to retrieve. He also guides staff in standard procedures and policies for smooth, effective operation in rural communities.

Elvis has a genuine heart for helping vulnerable populations. Before discovering Possibilities Africa, he intended to start an organization to dignify human life. When he encountered Possibilities Africa, he came to believe the model was the best way to accomplish what he wanted to personally and restore dignity to people.

People who know Elvis describe him as warm, friendly, and enjoyable. He never passes up an opportunity to spend time with friends and talk about life. He enjoys sports, and if you ask which he plays, he will likely answer with a smile, “All of them!”

Elvis truly loves serving the Lord, whether he is preaching at his church, caring for the community, or serving Possibilities Africa.
