Staff Profile: Meet Berry

If you ask anyone in his life to describe Berry, they’ll likely say the same thing: he is calm, cool, and collected. Berry is the kind of man who quietly carries out every task with deep commitment and never raises his voice.

Today, Berry lives in Lusaka, Zambia, but his story stretches far beyond the city. He was born near the roaring waters of Victoria Falls, in a family that believed education could open doors to a better life. Growing up with four young brothers and two young sisters, he learned early how to cook and work hard.

Life after education took him to the world of banking, where he spent nearly three decades rising from Clerk to Supervisor to Preferred Banker. He mastered the skills of sales and marketing for accounts and loans. Berry was working as a wealth consultant at Prudential Life Assurance when he heard of Possibilities Africa. As a born-again Christian eager to step into a ministry position, he thought, “I need to work there.”

On September 9, 2024, he joined the Possibilities Africa family. As the Country Program Officer, Berry is the steady bridge between Possibilities Africa and the pastors who lead rural communities. He checks in on them via phone and in person, through reports and visits, to ensure that they understand and implement programs.

His previous financial experience helps him guide leaders through everything from writing business proposals to navigating table banking and small enterprise development in their communities. His former role in rural marketing and sales required him to drive long distances to meet people where they were, which is what he now does with pastors in villages across Zambia.

Berry organizes facilitators for trainings, mobilizes resources, and supports budgeting. He’s the person who asks thoughtful questions, like, “How are you leading Bible study in your church?” “What’s working in your community? What needs strengthening?”

Pastors listen and respond well because Berry calls with wisdom, care, and genuine friendship. He jokes, “No pastor has ever shunned my calls!”

Beyond work, Berry is a husband and father to a bright primary school daughter. When he’s not on the road or on the phone with pastors, he spends time lecturing, consulting, worshiping at church, enjoying family time, and pursuing a Master’s in Project Management. Berry’s journey is one of steady obedience and quiet courage. And because of that, entire communities are being transformed.

Pray for the Zambia team to have God’s strength and guidance.

Pray that the Holy Spirit would touch pastors and communities so that they can testify, “Only God could have done this.”

Pray for God to supply every need as they seek to honor Him with local resource mobilization.

Pray for future Capacity Building Drives in Zambia, as every aspect of this training is unique, given that every community has distinct needs and assets.
