Mwingi Pastors Fellowship Group
Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, the Mwingi Pastors Fellowship Group was recruited by Possibilities Africa staff in 2023. The group comprises ten active pastors who meet monthly for prayer, fellowship, and Bible study, demonstrating faith-driven leadership and community development.

Spiritual Leadership and Discipleship
The group has established a functional leadership structure, comprising elected officials, a Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary, and is in the process of registering as a Community-Based Organization (CBO). This has enhanced organizational accountability and strengthened unity among members. Each pastor has established Shalom groups within their churches that foster fellowship, discipleship, and community service. The pastors themselves meet monthly on a rotational basis for Bible study and prayer, nurturing both spiritual and relational growth.
Mwingi pastors have also demonstrated active citizenship by advocating for community water initiatives. Pastors Joseph Maweu and David Maweu spearheaded the revival of the Ngolomoto Dam project, which the county government had abandoned. Their leadership has rekindled vision and strengthened collaboration between the church and the community, serving as a bridge for the community to know the love of Jesus.
Economic Productivity
Through the Economic Productivity Program, the pastors initially planted onions twice; however, challenges with the water supply hindered their success. Learning from experience, the group is now exploring alternative ventures such as beekeeping and poultry farming to enhance collective income. These efforts demonstrate resilience and adaptive leadership. Highlights include:
- Pastor Joshua Memba diversified into vegetable farming and poultry, improving food security. He leads a Shalom group focusing on strengthening church governance and holistic ministry.
- Pastor Peter Maweu initiated a family poultry project after the training, improving his family’s livelihood and involving his children. His efforts in reviving the Ngolomoto Dam have enhanced the church’s visibility in the community.
- Pastor David Maweu expanded his livestock venture, acquiring cows and improved goat breeds, ensuring financial stability for his family. He co-led efforts to revive the Ngolomoto Dam, reflecting strong community leadership.

- Pastor Naomi Munywoki expanded her poultry farm to 76 chickens, boosting her family’s food security and finances. She leads three Shalom groups focusing on youth tree planting, women’s mutual support, and men’s community engagement.
- Pastor Rehema runs a poultry project with 80 chickens and a women’s Shalom group practicing table banking. She integrates her role as an education officer to promote school mentorship programs.

- Pastor Benedetta Masesi introduced poultry farming within her family and oversees three Shalom groups (named Jerusalem, Judea, and Jericho), each engaged in joint farming of green grams.
- Pastor Phillis Mutheu transitioned into goat and dairy farming, creating a stable family income. Her Shalom group conducts monthly outreach to the elderly, offering fellowship and meals.
- Penninah Kithome, a Shalom leader, promotes youth mentorship under the “Fuata Nyayo” initiative and advocates for water recycling practices in her dry region.

Mentoring the Next Generation
Pastor Joshua Memba and Pastor Rehema have been instrumental in mentoring the youth. Pastor Memba is coordinating a youth mentorship forum bringing together six churches, while Pastor Rehema plans a youth retreat for bonding and spiritual talks during the school holidays. These initiatives aim to shape a morally upright and visionary generation.
Conclusion
The Mwingi Pastors Fellowship Group stands as a beacon of holistic transformation spiritually, economically, and socially. Despite environmental and economic challenges, their faith, unity, and leadership continue to spark community resilience. Their story embodies the mission of Possibilities Africa–equipping pastors to transform communities through holistic ministry.
