Picture above: Pastor Julius, a joyful servant of the Lord
If only you could teleport to villages for a day to see the multitudes of people touched by your support. Because of you, pastors are transformed and lives are saved, as you will read in the following story about Julius. When Pastor Julius travelled from his village to attend the Possibilities Africa training in Nairobi, Kenya, he was challenged to consider his leading and teaching. Was the church being spiritually fed with God’s Word? Was the church hearing about Jesus or himself?
Julius was so deeply moved by this message that tears fell down his face. He repented and asked God to help him be a minister of His Word. At the same training, Julius realized that when children are neglected, the church of tomorrow will also be neglected.
When he returned home, he stood before his church and asked for forgiveness. He also started a Sunday School, where children are now eager to gather and worship. “I can say we have been transformed,” said Pastor Julius.
But Julius grew concerned about one young girl who stopped coming to Sunday School. It eventually came to his attention that she wasn’t leaving her father’s house. He soon discovered that she had been molested and was pregnant. Her father was trying to induce an abortion at home to hide what he had done.
When Julius found the young girl, she was in grave condition. Julius told his wife that they must take the girl to the hospital. The doctor discovered she was three months pregnant and that her life was in danger. The doctor saved her life, and she later gave birth safely to a healthy baby. Julius reported the girl’s father to the police and his wife went to court as a witness. Sadly, the young girl lacked fare to appear in court for the fifth hearing, and the case was withdrawn.
This story reminds us that justice is still out of reach for many. While not every story ends as we long for, we trust in a God who sees, who heals, and who redeems. Even in the midst of devastation and pain, we trust the promise of God’s presence. Revelation 21:4 reminds us that a day is coming when there will be no more mourning or pain, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Until then, we walk in hopeful expectation and thank you for walking with us.
